Sisters

4.6a.jpg

Concept: Two sisters reconnect after the loss of their mother.

Location: Boalsburg, PA

Production: Fall 2019

Director’s Note: Thinking back on my process finding this story, I thought of the painter Monet capturing a still life. He often painted the same subject over and over in various light conveying different versions of similar truths and realism.

I strive to portray this story in a similar way by presenting a tableau of two women captured in a moment of time. The camera work will be grounded and still not directing the eye of the audience rather more so creating frames and snapshots. The lighting and sound will be entirely dietetically motivated as well to root the story in a strict realism to lend an authenticity to the scene.

Ultimately, though wielding each aspect of the filmmaking in this intentional way, the narrative will resonate as a family memento in and of itself as the characters reflect on their mother’s life through family videos and photos allowing the past to collide with the present.
